What is resinous flooring

One poured floor, built in layers, each with its own job.

People call it epoxy, seamless, or resinous flooring, and it's really all three at once. Instead of tile or planks, the floor is poured right onto your existing slab, one layer at a time. Each layer earns its place: bonding to the concrete, adding strength, building in color or texture, and sealing the whole thing against foot traffic, chemicals, and heavy equipment.

Because everything is mixed and applied onsite, we can dial the system in for the exact space it's going into, whether that's a showroom floor that needs to look flawless or a manufacturing line that needs to survive daily cleanings. Northwest Floor Care has been doing this for more than 50 years, and that's the crew behind every floor we pour.

Need something sanitary enough for a food line, tough enough for a shop floor, or striking enough for a storefront? There's a resinous system built for it.

Floor systems

Eight systems. One goal: the right floor for your space.

Every system starts with 100% solids epoxy or polyurethane resin. From there, we build up the texture, color, and traction your facility needs.

01

Shield System

A solvent-based epoxy primer plus finish coat that builds a high-gloss, easy-to-clean surface standing up to oil, gas, acids, and solvents.

02

Quartz System

Multi-colored quartz aggregate fused into clear 100% solids epoxy. Available in fine (Q28) or coarse (Q11), and NFSI-certified for slip resistance.

03

Gloss & Self-Leveling System

A smooth, high-gloss or orange-peel finish. The self-leveling SL version handles thicker 60 to 100 mil systems where extra durability matters.

04

Color Chip System

Multi-color chips broadcast into 100% solids epoxy for a distinctive, decorative look. Offered in macro or micro chip sizes.

05

Shop Floor

Natural quartz aggregate with pigmented epoxy, our most affordable industrial resurfacer. Hides imperfections and takes a beating.

06

Mica-Flex E

100% solids epoxy layered with natural mica flakes and finished in a UV-resistant urethane topcoat, in macro or micro flake sizes.

07

ReFLEXions

A decorative, poured-in-place system that blends durable resins with metallic effect pigments for a genuinely one-of-a-kind floor.

08

Urethane Mortar

High performance urethane mortar built for wet processing and high-heat cleaning, meeting strict food, beverage, and pharma sanitation standards.

FAQ

Common questions about resin flooring

A few things people usually want to know before they pour a new floor. Don't see your question here? Just give us a call.

Ask Us Directly
What is resinous flooring, exactly?
It's a general term for epoxy, urethane, and similar poured floor systems. Instead of tile or planks, liquid resin is mixed and applied directly over your existing slab in layers, then cures into a hard, seamless surface. That's why it's also called seamless flooring: there are no grout lines or seams for dirt, moisture, or bacteria to collect in.
How long does installation take?
Most jobs run anywhere from one to five days depending on the size of the space, the system you choose, and how much surface prep the existing slab needs. Multi-coat decorative systems and thicker self-leveling floors take longer to cure between layers. We'll give you a specific timeline once we've seen the space.
Is an epoxy or urethane floor slippery?
Not when it's specified correctly. We can add slip-resistant grit, textured quartz, or a matte topcoat to any system, and our quartz systems carry NFSI certification for traction. Tell us how the space is used, foot traffic, forklifts, wet processing, and we'll build the right amount of grip into the floor.
Can it go over my existing concrete?
In almost every case, yes. We grind or shot-blast the existing slab to open it up and give the resin something to bond to, then patch any cracks or low spots before the first coat goes down. If the slab has serious moisture or structural issues, we'll flag that during the estimate.
How long will the floor last?
A properly installed system holds up for well over a decade in most commercial and industrial settings, and often much longer with routine cleaning. Heavier-duty systems like our urethane mortar and self-leveling floors are built specifically for the toughest, highest-traffic environments.
What does upkeep look like?
Day to day, it's just regular sweeping and mopping or auto-scrubbing, no waxing or sealing required. Because the surface is seamless, spills and chemicals wipe up before they can soak in, which is one of the biggest reasons facilities switch to resinous flooring in the first place.
What does a resinous floor cost?
It depends on the system, the square footage, and how much prep the slab needs, so we don't quote a number without seeing the space. Call (800) 433-8082 or reach out through our estimating team and we'll put a firm price together at no cost to you.
